Day three – Turkey

Today we had one game against Turkey at 2pm. We went into the game knowing that the Turkish teams are very precise and can often be difficult to beat, but confident anyhow. The game started well and we forced the Turks to a one in the first end. In the second we got ourselves into a bit of a pickle, but a cracking double angled raise from Anna meant that we picked up a two. Both teams then scored with the hammer to take the game to four all at the half time break.

Going into the last end we were one up without hammer and knew we either needed a steal to win or force a one to take the game to an extra end. Unfortunately two poor stones from Anna meant the game was lost and our win/loss record went to 1-2. It’s always so gutting to lose a game on the last stones especially when you give absolutely everything throughout the match. It’s not the start to the competition that we’d hoped for, but there’s nothing that can be done now except for playing out of our skins over the next few days.

We spent the evening in the A hall watching the end of some of the ladies games and adding to our army of Le Gruyere cows!

Le Gruyere cows!

We are up early tomorrow and will be playing on the sheet next to the boys at 8am vs The Netherlands. The boys play Croatia. We then play Belarus at 4pm. Fingers crossed for tomorrow!
